Downtown Dallas is a predominant business center with 2,500 businesses representing a variety of industries: financial services, communications, law, hospitality, insurance, trade, accounting, advertising, architecture and real estate.
Among the 200 businesses with corporate or regional headquarters in Downtown are Belo, Blockbuster, Hunt Consolidated, Lincoln Property Co., Neiman Marcus, Omnicon, Radiologix, RTKL Associates, SWS Group, CB Richard Ellis, Turner Construction and Oncor/TXU/Energy Future Holdings. Downtown Dallas, Inc. is also proud to welcome our most recent headquarters relocations – Comerica Bank, AT&T and Tenet Healthcare, Corp.
In fact, in the last 12-18 months, more than 40 companies have made the decision to relocate Downtown, making up approximately 6,500 jobs and 1.5 million square feet. Some of the most recent announcements include: AIG, TM Advertising, Weber Shandwick, Autonomy Etalk, Plains Capital, 7-Eleven and Amegy Bank.
The greater Downtown office market is made up of approximately 40 million square feet of multi-tenant space, with a workforce of 135,000, which makes up more than 20% of the overall region’s employment.
Office Recruitment and Retention- Downtown Dallas, Inc. and the City of Dallas have begun to develop a strategy to aggressively address the issues of retaining existing office tenants and attracting new office tenants to the CBD. Over the next few months, representatives from both Downtown Dallas, Inc. and the City of Dallas will meet with tenant representatives, building owners and managers to determine the extent to which marketing efforts and collateral can be coordinated and what supplemental information can be provided to support the efforts of the building managers and tenant representatives.
